Zeba Sathar is a senior associate and Pakistan Country Director of Population Council of Pakistan. She heads technical assistance and capacity building, demographic dividend research with social science research that contributes to national policy developments. Her expertise includes cross-national comparative research, advocacy for policy change, analysis of demographic trends and patterns, and evaluations of health service delivery systems.
Ms. Sathar oversees programs related to poverty, gender, youth, reproductive health, HIV and AIDS. She also collaborates with other country directors and senior Council leaders to contribute towards research and policy outreach, while emphasizing the relevance of population and reproductive health as major issues.
Dr. Sathar received her PhD in Medical Demography from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and MSc in Demography from the London School of Economics. She also writes papers on gender and equality, safe abortion and postabortion care, maternal and child health, and family planning.
Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Arif is President of the Population Association of Pakistan. He has served as the Joint Director at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics. He has also worked with Asian Development Bank, Pakistan Resident Mission as Poverty Reduction Specialist and assisted the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) Secretariate, Ministry of Finance. He has earned his Ph.D. and Masters in Demography from Australian National University, Canberra. He has more than 30 years of research experience and his areas of interest are:
