Population Research Center's (Forman Christian College) 1st International Virtual Panel Discussion/Conference on Population Growth titled "Opportunities and threats: Population growth and the Way Ahead"

The Population Research Center (PRC) of Forman Christian College is organizing a virtual Panel Discussion/Academic Conference in collaboration with the Population Council (PC) Pakistan, UNFPA, ORIC at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) and the HEC. The Panel Discussion/Academic Conference is open to all FCCU faculty members and students. Panel discussion will be chaired by Dr. Zeba Sathar (Country Director, Population Council Pakistan) and inaugural address will be given by Dr. Jonathan S. Addleton (Rector, FCCU).

The day-long event will be titled “Opportunities and threats: Population growth and the way ahead”. The first session is panel discussion, which will include international and national experts in the field of demography and population studies. The second session of the conference will comprise of the original research paper presentations (a total of 5 papers will be presented).

Objectives:

  • Provide a Platform to discuss interrelationship between population growth and development
  • To improve linkages for research on population and human development related issues in Pakistan
  • Speakers awareness on population related issues and possible solutions
Central Theme:
  • The relationship between population growth and socio-economic and political development by reviewing and assessing the challenges and opportunities, in order to design the strategies for overcoming population growth related issues.
